Hi. Excellent calculator for the Iphone, thanks. Is there an easy way of doing excalating annuities rather than having to work out the resultant rate?

    • Hi Clinton,
I’m not sure I’ve understood your question. Do you meaning growing annuity? I believe they are the same. In that case there is an option on the calculator for it.
Also it depends which version we are talking about, if you are on an Apple device (ipod, ipad, iphone) it works differently on the standard one that on the Financial Calculator Deluxe.
On Android there is only one version.

Call you tell me which device you are using and an example of what you want to achieve?

  2. Clinton says:

Above comment should be escalating annuities.

Hi, i bought this calculator about an hour ago. I also viewd the tutorials that u have posted here on your website! My app kinda looks different from the ont that you are using to teach. For PVM, Interest rate, i put all the info required but there is no go button, instead it has refresh button because of which i am unable to calculate. Can you please help me in this, i have my home work due on monday. Thanks for yoyr time and help!!

    • I guess you are talking about the “easy mode” and not the regular calculator mode. The refresh icon works the same way than the old “go” button. It will calculate the value next to it. So if you enter all the other info, it will calculate it correctly.

I think it’s better if you give an example, what are the other numbers are your putting in?

How much to purchase? Only the free version is in the android app store and no price is given when you try an in-app purchase. Also will this be charged in US$ ?

    • When you hit the in app purchase it displays information about the purchase and the price. About $ or not… that depends on your phone provider and google. Either way, it does not matter as far as i know, since you get charged your currency no matter which one is the end one.

    Hello Joaquin.

The beauty of a product is its user-friendly quality. I’ve just purchased your financial calculator app, and I’m sorry to report that your app is miles and miles away from being user friendly.

I have an old Texas Instruments calc. which has served me well since 1982! And it’s is as ever friendly as one can be. Based on an old mortage (in Canada) I had at the time: $3000 at 19.75% apr for 2 years, I paid 150,20$/month! Based on your calculator, I get a payment of 125$, or 127$ depending on the settings.

What gives? Am I wrong? Completely wrong?

Please advise soonest by return e-mail, or should I delete the app and forget all about your calculator?

    Regards,

    Cameron McCraw

    • Actually it works the same than the Texas instrument calculator, my guess is that your settings on c/y and p/y are wrongs since I get your same result for a canadian mortage.
It’s easy to test, just go to ‘easy mode’ and enter the loan amortization section. In there type 3000, 19.75 for interest and 2 years. Watch the monthly payments… by default is usually $152.32
Just tap on the correct interest compounding (i believe semi-annual or annual on canada).

If you want to get the same kind of results outside of easy mode, you need to set the c/y and p/y the same than on your texas instrument.

    Hello Joaquin.

It at me one or at all so?

Purchased the calculator 2 days ago, froze on first use and have not been able use since, can you advise or will your upgrade deal with this problem, using IPad 2

  12. José Eduardo says:

My calculator is frozen and I cant use it !

    • Hi, yes it’s a bug on Apple’s side. It happens in only 10% of their devices. I’m in contact with them, meanwhile I rewrote the whole calculator to not use their api and asked them to do an expedited review and release. Version 3.0 should be out today or tomorrow.

I just bought the application. I was trying to find the interest rate, and added all the data (fv=1000, pmt=100, n=8, pv=1150), and got an ‘error’ msg. In a regular calculator it solves for interest rate, but here I couldn’t get it. Why? Is there a way to calculate this in the calculator application? I want the calculator mode.

    Regards,
    Shuli

    • It can’t solve it because you entered all numbers positive. I explained it on the tutorial videos.
On a financial calculator (any brand), you need to put cash outflows as negative and inflows as positive. You are saying you always getting money without putting anything, so obviously the calculator can’t give you a rate since you’ve never put any money. Since your fv is lower than pv, i’m guessing you want to invest the pv, so just put -1150 as a pv.
Then if you are going to receive the pmt, leave it as positive. If you are actually adding 100 to your account (outflow), then put it negative.
